Southwark Diocese
The Diocese of Southwark serves both urban and rural communities reflecting a rich cultural and religious diversity. Within the 6 local authorities covered by the SWLSEP area the Church of England currently has 5 secondary schools and 39 primary phase schools. The Diocese as a whole covers a further 6 LAs where there are 10 secondary schools and 51 primary phase schools.
The SDBE (Southwark Diocesan Board of Education) has particular responsibilities in the area of religious education and collective worship, the development of school buildings and the promotion of the Christian distinctiveness of its schools. The Board also works in collaboration with local authorities to ensure continuous improvement for its schools so that our shared aim of high quality is achieved.
