Richmond

Richmond upon Thames is one of the smallest London boroughs, with 8 secondary schools, two special schools, 41 primary phase schools and one nursery school.

Enthusiastic teachers, good facilities and resources, the committed support of members, parents and governors and the Local Education Authority all ensure that every pupil has a sense of joy in learning, and a pride in personal achievements. Our teachers enjoy working in a small borough where communication is easy and professionally supportive relationships are quickly developed.

Many of our schools have achieved Beacon Status, Artsmark, Activemark, Healthy Schools Status, Sportsmark, Investors in People and DCSF Achievement Awards. A commitment to the Advanced Skills Teacher initiative ensures a high level of continuing professional development and support, reflecting the Council's commitment to a broad, balanced and creative education.

Richmond borough schools are arranged into five geographical clusters known as Quindrats, enabling them to co-operate in school improvement activities and to meet the demands of the extended schools agenda. These clusters are a key vehicle for preventative work for the most vulnerable young people in the borough.
