Kingston
Kingston upon Thames is a small London borough, with 10 secondary schools and 34 primary phase schools. The borough is developing seven children's centres, six of which are located within primary schools and one of which has been organised as a centre of excellence. The three special schools in Kingston work alongside a highly developed network of specialist SEN provision within the borough's mainstram schools. The authority operates two pupil referal units for secondary aged pupils.
Kingston has arranged its schools into four geographical clusters allowing them to co-operate in school improvement activities and to meet the demands of the extended schools agenda. These clusters are arranged on the same basis as the local neighbourhood areas, operated by the council, and are the main vehicle for preventative work for the most vulnerable young people in the borough along with their families and carers.
The borough has an active partnership with its schools and works in collaboration with its othe key partners through a trust arrangement. Key partners within this arrangement are the Council, Kingston PCT, Kingston Hospital Trust. Kingston Police, local Voluntary Sector organisations and the local Connexions Service.
